Why choose us?

Many might ask the question: Why board with Rachel's Pooch House?

This is because...

1) I offer highly affordable boarding rates for short term home pet boarding without quality compromises.
One might have noticed that short term boarding are actually quite expensive at pet hotels and similar institutes.

2) I board your pet at my own house. It is warm and cosy, with 24hours pet care, free roaming and individual attention. Pooches get to sleep with me at night too, unlike big pet hotels...where they get closed up in small "compartments". =p At my place, we don't even keep them away in play pens.

3) I'm located in Bukit Panjang. Nearby facilities are...nature park trails, parks, gardens... All adequate to meet your pooches' daily need for fresh air and green grass. The closest main road to me is an approximate 10mins walk away. (So, no fear that your pooch will run off into the dangerous roads when I bring them for walks.)

However,

I apologise sincerely, if I have to reject any offers because of a few restrictions.

1) Short term boarding of up to 2 weeks and only a maximum of 2 dogs boarding at the same time.

2) Pet Transport is not always readily available. Apologies again.

3) I cannot accomodate large breeds like Huskies and Golden Retrievers.
4) We have to reject a few feline owners because we simply have no experience in taking care of them. Unless...well, unless you dont mind and you are really urgent, give me a ring.

Some Dog Poems

“I’LL WAIT FOR YOU”
I got to the gate of heaven today,
after we said goodbye
I began to miss you terribly,
because I heard you cry.
Suddenly there was an angel,
and she asked me to enter heaven’s gate
I asked her if I could stay outside
for someone who would be late
I wouldn’t make much noise you see,
I wouldn’t bark or howl
I’ll only wait here patiently
and play with my tennis ball
The angel said I could stay right here
and wait for you to come
Because heaven just wouldn’t be heaven
if I went in alone
So I’ll wait right here,
you take your time, but keep
me in your heart
Because heaven just wouldn’t be heaven
without you to warm my heart.

Thats Kenzo on the left and Fluffy on the right. Look how close they are. I cant believe I took almost 3 days to bond them. I miss Kenzo though, he is a really sweet, gentle and faithful guy despite his big size.

Thats Gigi! Look at her stare greedily, haha. But she's really really lovable.

Rubby the dog, as her owners call her. Look how she got subdued happily by us...hahahah. Photo courtesy of M.H. Lim.

Cookie the yorkie. We took so many pictures during the 4 days boarding we dont know which one to upload! She is a playful but clever little girl who keeps hiding her toys under her bed when she runs off for a toilet break. Maybe she's scared that I'll make her do fetching for the rest of the afternoon as well....hahaha. Owner: Serene

Buta and Mushi the guinea pigs. Boarded during the New Year holidays. The cuties! Whistle loads when we are about to feed them! Owner Goh A.E.

This is Charcoal the black rabbit, belonging to Joan. This rabbit is tame as a dog and almost half as clever. The one thing that sets her apart from pooches is, she doesnt bark!
*On the right of the picture is the glass door of the balcony. Charcoal hops around in the house and returns to her cage from time to time. Like I said, a dog huh?

Home boarding for Pets!

We just know how concerned you are when you leave your house and cant help but to leave your furkid behind...

Who is there to take care of him?
Who will feed her?
Who will play with her or keep him company?
Will she be tucked in snugly in bed each night?
Will there be someone to pet your kid when he grunts at night?
Can he or she find a cosy temporary home with gentle hands to take care of him for just a tiny short while when you are away?

Who can help me take care of my furkid for a while?!

They dont need 100% care and dedication like myself (I believe only with the owner can the furkids experience 100% love and concern), but at least provide 90%? =)

They cant go to commercial pet shops or farms....who knows maybe the dog will be locked up 20h a day alone...

Come to my Rachel's Pooch House.

Here right in my own house, I provide the solution to your problems. I have went through the same dilemma as you. As I go away for my holiday, I have to leave them alone behind...It is painful. Trust me, I know because I have my own furkids.
I believe in providing a 2nd home for your beloved pets away from home.
A warm, cosy place where your dogs can run around in freely, play with toys, get patted and praised by us, have a warm snuggly place to sleep as and when he/she likes and most importantly, respected and loved at the same time.
We are like a distant aunt of theirs (or yours). We'll help take care of your precious little ones while you have to be busy overseas or leave them for a short while.

While your furkids miss you, the owner faraway, they will still get adequate attention. No doubt they will be pining for you...but with us to accompany them, to wait faithfully for you, the owner, to come home to them =)

Extra thoughts and details

A few days ago, a potential boarder asked me, erm, do you have any pictures of dogs you have boarded previously?

Erm, I would like to say, I cant post/send pictures without the consent of the owners.. No doubt I would like to post all the pictures of the happy furkids during their stay, but they are not mine. If they are mine...I will post all the pictures in the Gallery. If they aren't mine but the owners consented to let me post 1 or 2 pictures on my site for advertising purpose, I will state promptly..

Another thing to note, all the pictures used here are taken by me or sent to me by preivious boarders or sent to me by my friends for use on this site and no other purposes ah...
Oh and my friend who read this blog asked me, how come each post says 'by Krustora' at the bottom? Well...it's my userid when I created this blog? Haha..lazy to change

About Us

I'm sure you are all interested to know exactly who are taking care of your beloved furkids at Rachel's Pooch House...and where exactly is the house. A name on the internet is just a name after all.

Alright, let me introduce:

This is Daddy Goh (or you can call him Steven). He looks a bit stern in this picture. But he is the most knowledgable about dogs because he kept so many in the past and present. He gains their respect because of his firm hand in discipline. But but...he is also the one who always feed them meat on the sly...

This is Mummy Goh! (you can call her Agnes too) Thats her carrying our house puppy in the picture. She carries them like this because she says, "they're babies!" She's very fond of dogs and guinea pigs. The pooches like her because she is ever so gentle and patient. Whether young ones or old ones, she takes care of them just the same, watching every little detail. Coming to think of it, she pampers the pooches more than she pampers me...

Well, this is me. The one with the glasses, not the one with the top knot. You might have realised from all the pictures that we are all in our house attire. Erghs...taking care of them 24h a day doesnt allow me (us) to wear make up or whatever while at home. What if they lick my face and taste L'Oreal or something :s
Well, I love pooches and I think they kind of like me too, haha. I love small animals too. My favourites are rabbits and guinea pigs and we used to keep them. They are so sweet and gentle. I believe one who holds them will automatically become gentle too. Having looked after and met so many furkids, I believe, each is smart and have their own interesting personality. If only they could talk..

This is Little Sister Goh! You can just call her, Mei Mei. She's our errand girl! And also the extra hand when we have to walk more than a dog. Plus...she loves playing with dogs. Fetch, hide and seek, play rough, punching with soft toy, tag...well, you name it...I feel dizzy just looking at them. So, young ones, naughty ones, playful ones, need-to-socialise ones, go ahead and find our little sister...she's a good playmate.

Aha, this is Brother Goh (aka Jun). He looks cool, but he is a gentle and strong guy. Whenever we need help, he is there. The silent caregiver, always watching, always ready. While we are all rowdy with the pooches, or busy bathing the small animals, he's the one with the seemingly lost and shy four legged friends. Dont judge him by his face in this picture. He's a real animal lover and sincere care giver at heart. Well, he's the errand boy too =p

As for the house...well, these are the general play areas. Please, no duplication or sending of these photos without my consent. It's my premise and I would like to keep it a little more private for you, me and our dogs...

This is one part of the living room, closer to the back..

There is the balcony...

My bedroom..unfortunately you can only see the bed by the door here...

Then here is part of the living room play area..closer to the front
